Summer 2022: 4 good reasons to set sail in Lorient

Lorient promises you a summer at the zenith in Southern Brittany. A shower of stars will fill your eyes in Morbihan: gastronomy, cuisine, sport and music ... Don't let them slip away!

The figurehead of Morbihan is not resting on its laurels. Certainly spoiled by nature, Lorient has sixteen beaches on the surrounding Breton coastline. But the port city is also a major tourist hub that attracts thousands of visitors to the City of Sailing. Not to mention its festive atmosphere during the Interceltic Festival, an internationally renowned event run every year by 800,000 visitors. You can even awaken your taste buds by discovering a chef freshly starred by the Michelin Guide.

The FIL, the flagship event

The cream of Celtic music meets every year in the city of Lorient. The Interceltic Festival of Lorient, called the FIL, brings together dozens of groups from the countries and regions of Celtic origin for ten days and 10 nights during the first half of August. From August 5 to 14, the 51st edition will celebrate Asturias and all the Celtic nations: 750,000 visitors, 120 stage shows (60% of which are free), 4,500 musicians, singer-dancers, visual artists, academics, filmmakers, from Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Cornwall, the Isle of Man, Galicia, Asturias, Brittany, the USA, Acadia, Australia ... The party that promises bagpipes, gaita, accordion, harp celtic, drums and pipe bands will end in a general bagad!

Hoist the sails at the city of sailing

The ocean adventure in all its grandeur awaits you at the Eric Tabarly Sailing Space. The museum space is designed in seven stages to experience the world of sailing and offshore racing in the wake of the great navigator Eric Tabarly: films, animations, navigation simulator, 4D cinema ... The curious will be able to discover the 1st international pole of offshore racing and approach the trimarans, Figaro, and Vendée Globe boats. Sea wolves and aspiring sailors will sail on a sailboat with a professional skipper.

LORIENT AGGLOMERATION seaside dream

The city of Lorient does not have a seaside place but its surroundings delight lovers of the sea. Large family beaches but also coves, inlets, all nautical desires will be satisfied. You can of course swim quietly in the Red Sands, dream on the white sand of the Stole Cove, play with your family in Pen er Malo and Lanénec, surf at La Falaise, beach volleyball in Toulhars of the Kaolin beach and even nudism on the Kaolins ... most of the beaches are supervised in summer and easily accessible.

Gourmet break at the Source

The Le Tirrand brothers have just obtained their first Michelin star. A deserved reward for two hardworking people who honor the products of their terroir with audacity and simplicity. Located on the Quai des Indes, their restaurant Source (English translation) has been open for two years. Their often iodized cuisine delicately celebrates the Breton identity.
