Saint-Nazaire Agglomération Tourisme dedicates a new website to the heritage of the Ecomuseum of Saint-Nazaire

With its website www.saint-nazaire-musees.com, the city of Saint-Nazaire has opened since November 21, 2019 a permanent public access to promote collections and heritage archives of its Ecomuseum. A "stunning" approach for a heritage common to all the Nazairians.

The city of Saint-Nazaire was already working to enhance its tourist heritage with its "Stunning" (Renversante) Saint-Nazaire site. With this new site, which took two years of work, it promotes its museum heritage to a wide public and offers themes around the history of the city such as the submarine L'Espadon, the transatlantic adventure... various resources in the form of photographs, videos, descriptive notices. The thousand-odd records online will be updated each year. Marvel at a web documentary about the Normandy cruiseliner, track the animals in the collections of the city's museums or discover the hundreds of objects that tell a lot about the history of Saint-Nazaire... click away! You are free to browse, explore and delve into the heritage of the beautiful transatlantic city, at your own pace.

 

Intuitive navigation

Five tabs are available. "Heritage season" is the calendar for the cultural programming of the city. With "I want to", you browse through the content of the site while participating. Testimonial, survey or document identification, the search engine was designed through a participatory workshop with future users. You can thus enrich the heritage of your city by filling out the records or make a donation of objects to the museum. "Online Collections", updated on a regular basis, bring to light thousands of objects with comprehensive notices. Finally, immerse yourself in "Resources" to live the transatlantic adventure to the abyssal depths!

 

Heritage has a bright future 

In the spring of 2020, the city of Saint-Nazaire will complete its digital heritage revolution with the launch of its Reading Room of the Municipal Archives. The internet user will thus be able to discover the archives of the city through documents and exhibitions.

Determined to win its label "City of Art and History" in 2020, the city of Saint-Nazaire is working to pass on a rich heritage that anchors its identity with that of its inhabitants.
