Kinesia, the new horse physiotherapy center, was inaugurated on Monday, August 31, 2020 on the Goustranville equine campus near Dozulé in Calvados.
Normandy equine land of excellence
Every year, the region devotes 6 million euros to the development of the equine sector and Normandy is known worldwide as a land of excellence for horses. The Deauville-Goustranville-Saint Contest axis concentrates equine equipment remarkable on the European scale.
The Norman equine pole
The Center for Imagery and Research on Equine Locomotor Conditions (Cirale) is expert in the field of locomotor pathologies in athletic horses and is a leading equine centre in Normandy. With more than 1000 patients, it represents a cutting-edge tool serving students, veterinarians and horse owners. The newly inaugurated Kinésia Centre is part of this dynamic.
Kinesia, an innovative research unit
Supported by the Normandie Equine Vallée joint trade union, Kinésia is the name of the Clinical Research Center in physiotherapy and functional rehabilitation of the horse: balneotherapy unit, panoramic swimming pool of 40 meters unique in the world with a pit to observe the movement of the horse in the water, submerged treadmill and solarium to warm the horses after the treatments in the pool and 6 boxes to welcome boarders in the rehabilitation phase. With its innovative equipment worth 1.7 million euros, Kinesia will be able, after diagnosis of locomotor injuries, to treat and restore its four-legged customers.
A project for the future
The arrival of an Equine Veterinary University Hospital of the école nationale d'Alfort looms on the horizon 2023. Kinésia is an important step in the project to transform the Goustranville site into a large international equine center, creating a platform of excellence in the field of research, higher education with all actors of the equine sector for the health and performance of the horse.
