Contract of the Century for Naval Group: Australia buys 12 submarines for 31 billion euros.

February 11, 2019 will be a great day in the annals of Naval Group .After 18 months of preparation, the agreement signed in Canberra kicks off the Franco-Australian cooperation in submarines for the next fifty years.

3,000 jobs in Australia and 500 people on the bridge in France

The 12 ocean attack submarines designed in France will be manufactured on a new state-of-the-art shipyard in Adelaide, Australia. As part of this cooperation, Naval Group transfers construction and maintenance knowledge but retains control over the design. An ambitious contract for both parties: "It takes a lot of confidence on the part of Australia to bet on France, and a lot of confidence from France to share with Australia skills that are so much at the heart of our sovereignty," said French Minister of the Armed Forces, Florence Parly. Naval Group will continue to develop state-of-the-art technologies for the new generations of submarines.

We are recruiting at Naval Group!

It is the entire French ecosystem of the naval industry that will continue to prosper. For Naval Group, the trend was already good: awarded most attractive company in France in 2017, 14,860 employees, a turnover of € 3.7 million in 2017 and a well-stocked order book ! This contract is a manna that will require reinforcements despite hiring difficulties (workers, technicians and AI specialists are lacking). Difficult to manage for this privileged sector that promises 1500 recruitments in 2019 and guarantees against unemployment for 50 years! The first submarine to enter the production phase in 2023 will be delivered 10 years later.

To strengthen its position in the Pacific, Australia achieves a record of investment in defense in peacetime. The diesel electric propulsion Barracudas will serve as a powerful deterrent and replace the older generation of Collins. In the meantime, you can still dive into troubled waters in a nuclear submarine: The Song of the Wolf , French thriller of the abyss, is released Wednesday in theaters.
